The Island has what are considered the best beaches of Greece, interesting churches and monasteries, nice scenarios, it is associated to the myths of Ulysses (Ithaka is a few miles away) and Sappho. The Greek magnate Onassis had home here with Maria Callas in their private Island Skorpio (500 meters Lefkas Shore).

Lefkas (Lefkada) is ideal for families wanting a relaxing holiday as for youngsters for its lively night life and disco in (mostly Nidri and Lefkas). Sailing aficionados will find a lot of services and the island attracts today kite surfers from all Europe -given the Island favorable meteorological conditions-more about kite here.

• The Folkloric Museum. A collection of local costumes, rustic implements, tools for weaving and textile articles. This is well worth a visit, you will find it near the central Square “Platia” in the pedestrian area.
- The archeological museum inside the Town Hall. A collection of ancient material regarding Greek history and Lefkada. You will find it following the laguna direction Nord, walking 10 minutes minutes from the wooden brige.
• The Monastery of Phaneromeni. It has a museum, a shop for souvenirs. In the park is a sort of mini-zoo, ideal for children. It is closed between 2 and 4 pm.
• The ruins of the ancient city of Lefkada, 2km south-east. Parts of the theater and the fortification wall are saved. By the walls perimeter it is estimated that ancient Lefkada was one of the biggest cities of Greece.
• The sunset at the end of the agora’ by the sea.
From Nidri you will find a series of boats for one-day cruises. They generally leave around 10 (am) and return around 6 (pm). The boats go to the most beautiful spots around: Skorpio, Ithaca (Ulysses’s island), Kefalonia, etc. Often you could see dolphins playing with the boats. Itineraries and comforts level changes from boat to boat; ideally is better to go and see the boats in the evening when they are at the port and ask for their programs.

A good pick is the Odysseas: A boat with peculiar shape, a friendly captain with barbecue and ouzo included.
Boat rental (no licence required)
There are a series of operators that rent motor-boats. Boats are easy to guide : with steering wheel or without and no nautical driving licence is required. Prices around 35-70 Euro depending on model and season.

If you have children visit Kid’s city inside Lefkas shopping centre an indoor playing area for small children. Visit also the public park of Lefkas city centre: it is equipped with children playing facilities.
During the summer 2011 Sea Gull in Ligia operates a playing area with Inflatables open late afternoon/evening. Ideal place for parents that want to relax with a great sea view having their children under control from the table.
For children reccomended the beach of Ghira in the north of Lefkada, at about 1 KM from the bridge. Well protected from the wind and the waves with a couple of taverns behind, shallow waters, the favourite spot of the locals with children.
For children look for “Risogalo”, “Crema” o “Choccolate” made inside the shop nears Aghios Minas at the end of the Agora’ (the pedestrian area). Children love it and is a genuine local product.

For Teen Agers
Bring them to a water sport centre like this link. Here you will find a good number of water sport activities to make them happy.
For a coffee consider the Bar in Nikiana “PEPE LE PEW CAFE” , while you will sip your coffee in comfortable environment they could use the playstations and/or check their emails.

Night Life in Lefkas
During the summer months you will find a good number of Night Spots in Nidri (Nydri) and Lefkas Town.
In Nidri try the Byblos Pub, The Sailing club in Glyco (3-4 km from Nidri). The discoteque Sail-inn.
In Lefkada town everything concentrate in the Lefkada town pedestrian area. You will find night bars and the Discoteque Capital at about 2 Km outside the town. A visit is wort a Milos Arlof: an old wind mill converted in bar.
